Barry M Speedy Collection* Swatches and Review

So everyone's instagram feed and twitter timeline is awash with all the new Spring beauty releases and Flails and Nails is no exception!  Today I bring you the new Speedy Collection* from Barry M, 9 fast-drying polishes perfect for the girl on the go and anyone who's a bit impatient when it comes to polish.  The collection currently has 9 gorgeous pastel shades that range from the usual pastel pinks and blues in every Spring collection to unusual orange and greys so pop on under the cut to check out my swatches and what I thought about the polishes.

Since I take my time with my nails and always use a fast-dry top coat like Seche Vite or Instadri, the whole fast-dry thing doesn't really matter to me but I can definitely see where there is a market for this sort of product but I'm glad that Barry M started the collection in Spring so we have these fab pastels to work with.

The Grand Budapest Hotel Nail Art and Review

So the Oscars mark the end of an exciting awards season and I have to admit, I'm always pretty bad at catching all the big nominated movies before the ceremony (what kind of film student am I?) but I have had the chance to watch Wes Anderson's latest offering, The Grand Budapest Hotel and I thought it was the perfect film to inspire some nail art so close to the ceremony and if you're interested, I'll also be reviewing the film as well, so follow me under the cut for some of Mendl's finest and some semblance of a film review

Models Own Hypergel Spring 2015 Update*

Here's another great spring launch that I've gotten a hold of, five of the ten new Models Own Hypergel Spring 2015 colours.  When I first saw the new shades on Models Own's takeover of Superdrug's instagram, a few colours definitely caught my eye and I'm so glad that I received a few of them to test out.  Today I'll be showing you Paradise Pink*, Powder Blue*, Long Beach Peach*, Tropical Green* and Purple Orchid* so pop on under the cut and see the pretty!

By now I'm sure you all know what Hypergels are but just in case you don't, they are Models Own's gel effect polish that means you have the look and feel of a gel polish without using UV light to set it.  They're some of my favourite polishes so let's hope the new releases live up to the rest of the collection!

Reverse Half Moons with Barry M Sky Blue*, Fondant* and Cotton*

So these past few weeks have been chockerblocked with new Spring/Summer releases from all of our favourite beauty brands so I've got plenty of new bits to show off to you guys but first up are the new Gelly shades from Barry M; Sky Blue* (pretty self explanatory), Fondant* (a gorgeous sugary lilac purple) and Cotton* (an cool off-white).

I wanted to do something a bit fun with these new shades so I did these sort of reverse half moons which I hope you like.  I took the picture after I had the nails on for a few days and they held up well.  As usual, I used the polishes and then applied a top coat on top (Seche Vite this time)

The base colours of Sky Blue and Fondant were two coats each and perfectly opaque and although I was only doing detailing with Cotton, I could tell it would be a great base as well and not too thin.

I think the new shades are lovely additions to the existing range and it's always fab when I new off-white comes onto the high street (you know how we all went nuts over Coconut last year).

The Gellys are priced at £3.99 and can be bought from Superdrug now and Boots from the 18th February.  There is currently a promotion in Superdrug for two items for £7 on selected items so check it out.

What do you think of the new shades?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to like, subscribe and follow the sites below, until next time :-)

Fifty Shades of Gradiated Grey and Why the Book is Terrible *NSFW*

So today I have a bit of a different post for you.  There's still nail art so don't worry about that but I thought I would share my thoughts on probably the most talked about book of the past few years, Fifty Shades of Grey.  The much anticipated adaptation of the controversial novel is being released this Friday (13th February) and I finally persevered and finished the book in question so I can actually have an opinion on the matter, and guess what it is?  Yeah, not good, so pop under the cut with me to read what I think about E.L. James' literary masterpiece *sarcasm* and don't be shy about sharing your own thoughts too!

The following discussion might not be the most safe for work so I am officially labelling this entry NSFW (ooooh, look at me being all edgy)

Rimmel Little Bo Peep, Barry M Chai (Gelly), Black, Flossgloss Faded and Sinful Colours Snow Me White

Rifle Paper Co. Monarch Calender Nails - February feat. Models Own Watermelon

It's a new month, which means it's time to recreate February's background from my gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. Monarch Calender, which features Catherine the Great and her horse.  The background is of course a floral design featuring the most stunning Watermelon shade, and I knew my new Hypergel purchase from the Models Own 50% sale would be the perfect candidate for it.  I used my dotter tool and detail brush to complete the design.

Models Own Watermelon (Hypergel), Pastel Pink, Barry M Key Lime (Gelly) and American Apparel Hunter

I just love these designs SO MUCH.  I hope you guys like this feature too and of course I'll be doing the same for March.  Click on the link mentioned above to get a sneak preview of the next month's pattern or maybe try out February's for yourself.  Let me know what you think in the comments below and be sure to follow, like and subscribe by the sites below, until next time :-)

P.S. - Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway, the two winners have been chosen and contacted and their prizes will hopefully be with them this week.  I look forward to hosting another giveaway soon that will hopefully be open to ALL!

My Nail Care Essentials

So here's a much requested post which I've kind of done before but here's an updated version, my nail care essentials and routine.  I don't do anything too elaborate (I'm not like a hand model and moisturise my hands 50 times a day) but some of you guys wanted to know how I keep my nails in tip top condition (even when they don't want to cooperate) so here's what I use.  Everything in this post is chosen from my own stash of products and things I genuinely use all the time, so onwards!
